NYO is once again taking the action online this year for the 2021 Virtual Senior NYO Games.
Running April 5 – 30, student athletes in grades 7 – 12 from across the state may compete at a location of their choice (indoors or outside) that is free of cost and supports a safe and physically distanced environment. Athletes compete by recording their individual performances on video then submitting the videos to NYO officials via web upload.
The 2021 Sr. Games will consist of two distinct competitions:
Athletes upload their individual competition video submissions within one-week time slots for each of the following events:
- Week One: Alaskan High Kick, Scissor Broad Jump, Wrist Carry
- Week Two: Two-foot High Kick, Kneel Jump, One-hand Reach
- Week Three: One-foot High Kick, Seal Hop, Toe kick
Medals will be awarded for 1st – 5th place finishers in each event.
Live Stream Finals Event:
The top five placing athletes in the virtual competition will compete in their hometown(s) via live stream in the following contests:
- Alaskan High Kick
- Two-foot High Kick
- One-foot High Kick
Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each of the live stream events.
Registration for the 2021 Sr. Games begins March 29.
More information will be forthcoming regarding how to register, live stream instructions, and details around the structure of this year’s virtual event. The NYO website and Facebook page will be serve as primary information sources for the 2021 Senior Games as additional details are finalized.
All athletes will receive a 2021 Virtual NYO beanie as a “Thank you!” for their participation (with additional official merchandise coming soon).
