UNDERSTANDING RECOVERY
Core Beliefs
Our approach is guided by these foundational understandings:
Recovery. A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.
Addiction. a treatable, chronic medical disease involving complex interactions among brain circuits, genetics, the environment, and an individual’s life experiences. People with addiction use substances or engage in behaviors that become compulsive and often continue despite harmful consequences.
Resilience-Focused Care.
An approach grounded in understanding individual experiences and their ongoing impact across all service environments. RFC recognizes that personal history, culture, and context shape how individuals navigate challenges and access their inherent strengths. This approach emphasizes creating safe, empowering environments that avoid practices which may cause additional harm to those with histories of adversity. RFC prioritizes meaningful consumer participation in all aspects of service design and delivery, while actively building on individual and community assets to support healing and growth.
