Trauma Training

Trauma training is an introduction to research on trauma as it relates to Alaska Native and American Indian people and tribal communities, including trauma types, brain science, developmental and behavioral effects, and the interconnected nature of historical and current traumas and factors that promote resilience.

The trainer will be Kimee Wind-Hummingbird, who is a citizen of the Muscogee Nation with Cherokee descendance. Kimee has served the youth and families in the Child and Family programs of her two nations for 22 years before joining the Univeristy of Montana’s National Native Children’s Trauma Center in 2021. In addition to considerable experience in Tribal Program administration, development and enhancement, she also has extensive expertise on the Indian Child Welfare Act.

When: September 11, 9:00 – 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break

Where: Rasmuson Conference Center rooms in the Nat’uh Building on 3600 San Jeronimo Drive
