Youth Education

At CITC, we believe all young people have the potential to succeed, fully realize their own worth, and understand their personal responsibility to our community as they prepare for the pursuit of their own path. We partner with you to ensure our youth receive quality educational experiences that prepare and empower them for success in academics and in life. Services include after-school tutoring and mentoring, school-break camps, and access to CITC’s  Super Fab Lab, as well as healthy lifestyles development, and career planning and preparation.

The new Denełchin Lab is a state-of-the-art facility and the hub for all of CITC’s Youth Education Services, offering culture-forward programs designed to connect youth to their endless potential. The Denełchin Lab is home to CITC’s Super Fab Lab, a modern learning environment rooted in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math(STEAM) programs that use advanced machines to help students design, develop, and discover. Here, youth learn by doing, using digital design tools, and the latest in maker technology—3D printers, robotic routers, laser cutters, and more—to bring their ideas to life. CITC’s experienced staff of instructors teach a variety of culture inspired STEAM lesson plans and activities, all while sharing ancestral knowledge and wisdom along the way.

This Anchorage-based digital fabrication resource center, created in partnership with MIT, combines traditional Alaska Native cultural values with cutting edge educational tools to bring traditional concepts and understanding to student experiments.
