18 Aug That’s a Wrap!
36 talented interns gained hands-on experience at a variety of worksites across our community this summer

This summer, Youth Services welcomed 36 talented interns who gained hands-on experience at a variety of worksites across our community.
Our partners included CITC Career Development, CITC Financial Assistance, CITC Youth Education, CITC FA Youth Services, Clare Swan Early Learning Center, Alaska Dinner Factory, the Alaska Native Heritage Center, Snow City Café, Spenard Roadhouse, Trailside Discovery Camp, the Native Village of Eklutna, and Chickaloon Village Traditional Council.
From June 2 to August 8, 2025, these interns immersed themselves in meaningful work, learned new skills, and made a lasting contribution to each organization they served.
This summer, our interns made an incredible impact across a variety of workplaces while building valuable skills for their future.
- At the Alaska Native Heritage Center, cultural host interns strengthened their public speaking abilities and deepened their knowledge of Alaska Native cultures and values. They learned traditional dancing and NYO games, practiced their performances, and proudly took the stage. The ANHC team was deeply grateful for their enthusiasm and support.
- Youth Education and Trailside Discovery interns worked hands-on with school-aged youth, helping lead summer camps and activities that kept kids engaged and active all season long.
- Across the board, all CITC interns gained practical office experience—everything from data entry and event planning to organizing supplies and supporting front desk operations.
- In Career Development, one intern excelled in the computer lab, guiding participants through job preparation and offering one-on-one assistance.
- At the Financial Assistance front desk, another intern became an essential part of daily operations, ensuring things ran smoothly for staff and visitors alike. Over at the AK Dinner Factory, an intern jumped in to help with large-scale food preparation projects, contributing to a busy and fast-paced environment.
By the end of the summer, every intern had strengthened their work ethic, sharpened their leadership skills, and left a lasting positive impression on the teams they served.
